Miquel Barceló

El artista mallorquín Miquel Barceló (nacido en 1957) es uno de los pintores vivos más importantes del universo artístico. Sus obras comparten ciertas características inspirativas de la naturaleza, y consiguiendo una textura especial gracias al uso de empastes y materiales. El mar Mediterráneo y el continente africano (desde 1988 tiene un taller en Mali) son sus más importantes referentes artísticos.
Barcelo suele decir que "hay que saber reconocer en la vida diaria los hallazgos inesperados, hay que tener el ojo entrenado. Las cosas ocurren cuando uno está atento. Es como reconocer en un cuadro una mancha desencadenante de sentido, pero si uno no está ahí pintando no sucede nada. Yo quiero pensar que las cosas siguen sucediendo incluso cuando no estoy, mi problema es no tener varios yos, uno que viva en Mali, otro en París, otro aquí: tengo la sensación de que cuando llegue a Mali encontraré que mis cuadros se han ido pintando".

The Spanish artist Miquel Barceló (born in 1957) is one of the most important alive painters of the artistic universe. His works share certain inspiring characteristics with the nature, and he obtains a special texture thanks to the use of fillings and materials. The Mediterranean sea and the African continent (from 1988 it he stablished a workshop in Mali) are his more important artistic models. Barceló usually says that "you have to be able to recognize in the daily life the unexpected finds, is necessary to have a trained sight. The things happen when one is attentive. It is like to recognize in a picture a spot desencadenante of sense, but if one is not painting there, nothing happens. I think that the things go on happening even when I am not there, my problem is not to have several Ids, one that lives in Mali, other one in Paris, other one here: I have the sensation that when I come to Mali I will find that my pictures have been being painted".
