La ciudad andaluza de Jaén es un centro cultural insólito en el que trabajan varios pintores de gran renombre. Sus obras, a pesar de irradiar cierto academicismo, tienen un estilo propio y bien definido, que las hace destacar entre la pintura española actual. Quizás el pintor más representativo de este grupo sea el maestro Francisco Cerezo Moreno (1919-2006) destaca por sus retratos, paisajes serranos y bodegones en una buen combinación de luz y color. Sus bodegones están en la más pura tradición barroca y consigue con ellos una gran perfección.
